Makenna is TWO!

Just two years ago, Makenna was less than twelve hours old...hard to believe. And Kyle was just 3 1/2 months older than she is now. That is even harder to believe. We had a little just-the-four-of-us family party tonight. Kyle had picked out gifts and a card for her. We then had super-fun making Chocolate-in-a-Mug cakes. I was able to get them in their aprons by dangling chocolate chips in front of their noses. Makenna's meltdown is due to David not letting her eat the chocolate chips out of the cake batter in her mug. Kyle was very helpful by getting his scissors or his 'tool' to cut into one of her packages. I could tell it made him feel very manly! We've traveled a lot of road in two years and we have their whole childhood ahead of them still. I love the reality of that. A year ago, she was barely toddling. Now she runs, kicks, throws, and tumbles like her big brother. And how she loves her babies. And we so deeply love her. So Happy 2nd Birthday Baby Girl Makenna~

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired

Picking Limes

Kyle has been anxiously waiting for our limes to be ripe enough to pick. This morning I let him pull a couple off and of course he wanted to get more. I said no initially but then that was thrown out the window when I decided I had to get 'action shots' on our way to church. So just a few more limes were picked, eight according to Kyle, who told David, "We picked three and then two more and then another three, so now we have eight." Yes, he's adding all that in his head. Makenna's wearing her little Mexican dress we found for her in Cancun. I have some more pictures of us on our trip to Cancun, but I'm still cooking up the tale I'll be sharing since all my adventures require a funny story or two. Gotta spin those yarns...

Pool Fun at Chloe's Birthday Party

We had so much fun at a friend's birthday party yesterday! It was the first time we've all been out to the pool together this 'summer season.' Kyle was thrilled to have his pool noodles he'd been eyeing at wal-mart and Makenna donned her party swimsuit for the first time. She wears boardie shorts and a rash guard shirt when we play in the water here at the house, but yesterday she was miss fashion in her suit! She and Kyle really are water babies--hopefully that'll help next month when Kyle takes swim lessons and 'has to go' in the 'big kid' pool. I predict I might have to hide behind a tree like my Mom did during my swim lessons...
