Christmas Ponderings
Had to jot this down before I forgot it. I love my children's faith. If it wasn't 11:30 pm, I would write more, but just to share Makenna's prayer tonight. I was praying with her at bedtime and she asked me to include a prayer. I was having trouble determining what her prayer was but I pieced it together and asked her if this is what she was wanting to pray. Her prayer, in a nutshell, was "Ask Jesus that if he is born again, that he would come stay at my house." Then she giggled and said he's already been born, a long time ago, and now he lives in my heart all the time. She is 3 1/2 years old on December 29th. I have no doubt in my mind that my daughter is saved. It doesn't take genius or years of study of a certain intellectual maturity to declare faith in Jesus Christ. So I don't worry about her vulnerability to the enemy. I believe legions of angels are on call for all Believers at any time to help us resist evil. I believe they surround Makenna and Kyle. I believe I am more likely to fall from faith than my small children. I know the end times are said to be so full of persecution that even the most faithful will fall away. That may make us fear for children and their vulnerability. I think I see it the other way around. I think we adults are far more vulnerable. I think Jesus would agree. He tells us to enter the Kingdom like children. I think he was on to something.
